him my car. He shows up at my friends convenience store wearing dark sunglasses and a floppy hat inquiring about my car 4sale in the parking lot & the videocamera records him. He then leaves 5 vm messages over & over again(but I'm out of town and not checking vm). Each vm more desperate then the previous, until the last one: "Hey, I'll pay your asking price! I love the car! Just let me know if it's still for sale, Please!" I'm psyched! So I call him back to tell him my friend has the keys & title at the store - all he has to do is give my friend the money and the car is his. Now he's psyched! He asks me if I'll take a bank check or cash. We agree on the bank check, as long as it's made out to me. He calls me back & says his bank will only issue a check in his name, not mine. But he'll endorse it and hand it over to me. I'm skeptical, but wtf - it probably means it's as good as cash. The next day he drops-off the self-endorsed bank check & drives away with the car and title. Once again, he's wearing the same sunglasses and hat on the video. I stop by later to pick-up the check, then I go to my bank to deposit it......."Sorry, you can't deposit this check since it's made out to Guy". F*CK! I'm out $15,000 & he's got the car & the free&clear title with my signature on it. And no one's got a good description of the guy, because he was always incognito. I call the guy on his cell phone & leave a vm. I call his bank - yes, Guy has an account here. I describe the situation - they tell me to have him bring the check back and they'll issue a new check in my name. WTF! "Guy told me you couldnt issue it in my name" - Bank: "that's odd, we certainly can." The next day, Guy calls me back. "Sorry about the check problem. I'll meet you at the bank @ Noon to clear it up". I get to the bank @ 11:45. Noon. 12:15, 12:20, 12:25....and there's Guy walking through the parking lot in sunglasses & hat. "Hi, Sorry I'm late" "Where's the car?" "Oh, I'm getting an alarm installed in it, I don't want it to get stolen." & then I got my $15,000.
